Creating a new poster to be screen printed from a photo taken behind the entrance to the Tate Modern in London.
First we edited the photo into line art, almost like a lino print then we take this to create two transparencies, one of these can be used for the three other colours we need for the print.
We take our first transparency and lay down the red/orange of the brick then we can use that screen three more time for the grey’s and finally the green for the trees. The last colour is the black which then creates the final poster.
I like the 90T screens for the finer detail but you can use a 77T for this too, these are 16″ x 20″ frames which print nicely on to A3 paper. I mixed two greys using black and white which we can save for another time plus an orange red colour mixed from red and yellow.
