Legendary Saturday night at the Astoria theatre on charing cross road London. Sadly the Astoria is no longer there as it was demolished to make way for the new cross rail station.
The Astoria Theatre in London, located on Tottenham Court Road, was a beloved venue for live music and club nights from its opening in 1927 until it closed in 2009. Originally a cinema, it later became renowned for hosting rock concerts, attracting legendary bands like The Rolling Stones, Oasis, and Blur. It was also a hotspot for rave culture, particularly during the 1990s, when it became an iconic venue for all-night rave parties.
These rave nights, often filled with thumping techno, house, and trance beats, created an electrifying atmosphere that drew young, energetic crowds seeking freedom and escape in the heart of the city.
The Astoria was synonymous with the heady, rebellious spirit of London’s underground music scene during that era, before the building was demolished to make way for redevelopment.
